The artisans are not only economically marginalized but also socially and politically. For centuries, they faced discrimination on the basis of their occupation. They had been placed on the far periphery of economic, socio-cultural and political system.
ICIA has undertaken various initiatives to organize the artisans communities socially and politically to enable them to participate in gross root governance, like contesting local bodies elections, and taking part in planning, development and decision making process.
