Islampur Cottage Industries Association (ICIA) is not for profit organization registered under the ‘Society Registration Act, 1860.’ ICIA works for the marginalized communities with focus on artisans. Historically, the artisans are socially, culturally, politically and economically excluded. Thus our goal is to create an inclusive environment for them by refining their skills, increasing income, raising living standards, ultimately, to empower them socially and politically.
Our main tools for achieving the goal is sensitization, mobilization, organization, capacity building and networking. Over the years, ICIA had been undertaken different small-medium sized interventions in the areas of livelihood, technical, vocational and managerial training, women economic development, civic participation and action research.
While working with several national and international organizations, ICIA have accumulated vast experience and expertise in the field of development, especially in Enterprise Development, Value Chain Assessment, Participatory Rural Appraisals, Research and Capacity Building, marketing, sale, particularly on-line sale and creating linkages with international buyers and markets.
Apart from donors funded projects, ICIA also sells its services in the areas of research and capacity building (trainings) to generate income for running the organization.
