Environmental Concerns
Educating and facilitating the artisans to adopt environment-friendly processes and techniques

Most of the artisans are illiterate and thus are not aware of the environmental repercussions of some of the modern materials they use in the production process, especially the use of strong detergents, artificial dyes and soap. The heavy use of such chemical materials, particularly in the big clusters of cottage industry, can cause environmental degradation.

We are sensitizing and encouraging them to shun the use of hazardous chemical materials, and revert back to the environmental friendly process like use of the natural dyes and washing methods.  We disseminate information about environmentally friendly raw material and processes that minimize the use of hazardous chemical material. With the help of partner organizations, we are trying to ensure enough supply of natural dyes to different clusters of cottage industries. ICIA only promote the work of those artisans who comply with biodiversity and environment protection protocols.
