Capacity Building

Building artisans’ capacity on how to access markets.

Almost majority of the cottage industries are located in the rural areas using the indigenous traditional tools and techniques for production. They simply have no idea about the standards and requirements of the international markets that impede their products to reach international markets. Lack of their organization, networking and information had further exposed them to exploitation.

Islampur Cottage Industries Association (ICIA) facilitates them to organize them on community levels enabling them to articulate and raise their business as well as socio-cultural and developmental issues with the relevant stakeholders. For this purpose ICIA, with partnership of other national and international partners, organizes various technical, vocational and managerial trainings for the artisans.
