Child Labour & Education

Eradicating child labour through advocacy and providing education facilities.

Owing to the very nature, home based or near to home, of cottage industry and the poverty of the artisans, due to the middlemen and creditors predatory business practices, is one of the primary factors that push the children of artisans into labour.  Thus, the nature of the work, home based and requires no physically intensive labour, and the poverty forced almost the entire family, the infirm, elders, women and children into the labour.

However, the most ironic aspect is the child labour because it not only affect their health but also their future as majority of them remain out of school.

ICIA is campaigning to make cottage industry a child labour free sector. ICIA is supporting and facilitating ‘from work to school’ campaign through offering scholarships, providing books and uniform. For this purpose, we link the artisans communities with relevant government departments, elected representatives and others relevant stakeholders.

ICIA provides support those artisans and promote their products who comply with child labour rules and laws.
